Review in Medieval Archaeology vol. 63.2 by Neil Christie (Universty of Leicester).

N. Christie. (2019). "Review of:  R. Raja & S. M. Sindbæk (eds), Urban Network Evolutions. Towards a High-Definition Archaeology (Aarhus: Aarhus Universty Press)", Medieval Archaeology 63.2, 459-460.

From the review:

"UrbNet refers to the Centre for Urban Network Evolutions, based at Aarhus University since 2015 and funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (with other funding support from the Carlsberg Foundation): as this volume shows, the Centre is pooling research and promoting new approaches, especially scientific, to enable clearer, fuller and more 'high-definition' archaeological and historical images of urban workings and growth (from the roots of urban development but also decline, where applicable - with more precise chronological definitions a target); core also is the training and nurturing of young scholars. The editors' introduction does not explicitly state the latter, but scrutiny of the 'About the Authors' section (44 names, pp 297-309) shows 15 PhD contributors, and a good number of postdoctoral or research assistants; thus, the volume mixes papers by senior and junior academics and duly indicates the network of research."
