Abstract:
Danish town archaeology has changed immensely since its professionalization in the middle of the last century - one aspect of which is the ongoing digitalization, which is changing our way of working, both during and after excavation. This talk seeks to discuss the terminology behind ‘digitalization’ and zoom in on different trajectories within the digitalization process in Denmark, such as the GPS and different types of 3D registration. This leads to a more general discussion of the benefits and challenges, which have arisen along with these methodological changes.
The lecture is followed by an informal wine reception. All are welcome.
