Abstract
UrbNet and Aarhus AMS center is cooperating a project developing the method of mortar dating. Experience has shown that mortar dating can be both successful and unsuccessful. The talk will feature examples of successful mortar dating from the Åland Islands in Finland, and challenging mortar dating from Jerash in Jordan.
The project considers sample preparation methods such as sequential dissolution, titration, and grain size fractions. There is also ongoing work on new data analysis and characterization methods. The talk will last 20 minutes and provides a brief status on the mortar-dating project.
