13th Nordic Women’s and Gender History Conference

From 19 to 21 August 2021, the 13th Nordic Women’s and Gender History Conference takes place in Aarhus, Denmark. Centre Director Professor Rubina Raja will give a keynote lecture at the conference.

The Nordic Women’s and Gender History Conference is an established forum for historians studying women, gender and sexuality in a Nordic context. Here, historians working within different academic subfields meet to present and discuss new historical research and questions relevant to the field.

The 13th Nordic Women’s and Gender History Conference is organised by the Department of History and Classical Studies in collaboration and The Grundtvig Research Center, both at the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University. The local committee is Associate Professor Nina Javette Koefoed and Senior Researcher Lone Kølle Martinsen.

The program consists of keynote lectures related to the conference theme, Gender, power and disempowerment, of thematic sessions, poster sessions as well as sessions for free presentations. Centre director Professor Rubina Raja will give a keynote lecture titled Power, Empowerment and Disempowerment in the Field: Western Female Archaeologists, Writers and Travelers in the 19th and 20th Century Near East Friday 20 August.
