Introduction of Filiz Tütüncü Çağlar

New affiliated postdoc at UrbNet.

Filiz Tütüncü Çağlar is an archaeologist and historian of archaeology in the late Ottoman Empire. Her research explores how archaeological practices, institutions, and actors shaped ideas of the past across imperial and transregional contexts. She works extensively with archival sources in Ottoman Turkish, French, and German, with a particular focus on the Imperial Museum in Istanbul and its networks. Within the LoCi project, her work focuses on questions of provenance and the trajectories of objects, investigating how the circulation of antiquities intersected with imperial knowledge production and museum practices.
