On 10 June 2025, Derek James Parrott succesfully defended his PhD with the title 'Models and moulds: Berdal brooch casting moulds from Viking Age Ribe through the lens of 3D modelling'.

The assessment committee, comprising of Prof. Felix Riede, Associate Prof. Unn Pedersen (University of Oslo), and Prof. Gabor Thomas (University of Reading), recommended to the PhD school of the Faculty of Arts to award Derek with the PhD degree.
