Thursday 28 May, PhD student Olav Elias Gundersen defended his thesis "Commercialisation and urbanisation on the periphery of medieval Europe c. 986–1448: A comparative analysis of Denmark and Norway".  

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, Olav's defence was conducted virtually at Aarhus University. The viva allowed a virtual audience, and many joined to support Olav.

After the defence, the committee unanimously recommended that Olav be awarded the degree of PhD by the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University. Congratulations, Olav!
