The distinction is awarded by the Archaeological Institute of America.
The Archaeological Institute of America is the largest organization dedicated to the archaeologies. Every year it appoints internationally acclaimed scholars to distinguished lecturer. This year center leader and professor of Classical Archaeology Rubina Raja, Aarhus University, was appointed Kershaw Lecturer 2018/2019 on the grounds of her widely published and internationally acclaimed work on various aspects of Classical Archaeology in the Near East, in particular her recent work on urban societies and their networks, including the oasis city Palmyra and the Decapolis city Gerasa.
Rubina Raja will as part of the appointment do a lecture tour in America presenting her work and situate it within the framework of a research done at Centre of Urban Network Evolutions.
“It was a great pleasure and honor to receive the appointment and the lecture tour will give me the opportunity to communicate the important research, which we are undertaking at Centre for Urban Network Evolutions to academic communities and the public across America. I also hope that the lecture tour will bring new networks and partnerships to UrbNet ”.
