UrbNet team produces display for visitor centre at Unguja Ukuu
UrbNet featured at new visitor centre in Unguja Ukuu, Zanzibar.
As one outcome of UrbNet research at Unguja Ukuu, Zanzibar, the team has produced displays for the new visitor centre on site. This was completed as a direct response to requests from the Antiquities Department, Zanzibar and is a collaboration with our partners there. The posters introduce the site, provide a brief history of research there (including Urbnet excavations!) and position early urbanism on Zanzibar in the world of network urbanism of the first millennium AD. The display cabinets at the site will show materials from Urbnet excavations as a way of presenting the urban history of the site to tourists and locals.
