Visit to the National Museum of Denmark
By PhD student Mahir Hrnjic and Assistant Professor Thomas Birch.
Today PhD student Mahir Hrnjic and Assistant Professor Tom Birch are sampling Viking silver rings at the National Museum of Denmark, working closely with museum curators Peter Pentz and Helle Horsnæs. The samples will be analysed for their chemical composition and lead isotopes to learn more about the origins of silver metal during the early Viking Age. This work forms an important part of Mahir’s PhD research into early Viking silver.
